SUMMARY:Membership Monthly Meeting - “Bling”
DESCRIPTION:When we talk about adding “Bling” to lampworked or fused glass\, we’re really talking about how light interacts with different materials. Dichroic glass\, goldstone\, aventurine\, lusters\, and CZs each create shine in their own way — some by reflecting light\, some by refracting it\, and some by scattering it across tiny metallic inclusions. The key is understanding how these materials behave in the flame or kiln so you can use them intentionally rather than letting them take over the design. \nIf you already have artwork that fits this month’s theme — anything with a touch of sparkle\, shine\, or subtle shimmer — we’d love for you to share it. Seeing how others use these materials can be a great spark for members who haven’t started using them yet. Your past work might be exactly the inspiration someone needs to jump in. \nAfter a little business discussion\, Janie Jones will demonstrate a solution to something that probably happens to us all who melt glass. Cracks! Not just cracks\, but those that show up after removal from a mandrel\, and after cleaning out all the bead release has been done. See her demo on ‘Healing An Off Mandrel Cracked Bead’\, it could even work for a bead filled with “Bling”.
