SUMMARY:An Evening with - Terry Hale - Stretched Beads
DESCRIPTION:My “Stretched Bead” demo shows how to create a lovely\, marble-like bead while using a number of good exercises for torchworkers. I include how to use scrap bits\, choose great color combos\, and make a large round bead with good ends. Then the fun begins! We’ll change the shape of the bead\, as well as the surface decoration by using heat and gravity\, then a final bit of marvering to refine the shape. I share this bead in my beginner classes to demonstrate how glass moves and how to work with that movement. With my more advanced students\, I offer reminders of small techniques that may have been forgotten. The best part is that every bead made this way turns out beautifully! \nDragons\, we hope you join us for this fun and informative demonstration by Terry Hale!

SUMMARY:Kit Paulson - Magpie Museum of Disorderly Inquiry
DESCRIPTION:Kit Paulson invites audiences into her Magpie Museum of Disorderly Inquiry\, the whimsical\, glass-filled world that occupies the front half of her studio. Known for transforming flameworked glass into unexpected objects—bonnets\, ornate masks\, delicate headpieces\, even sewing tools—Kit reveals how curiosity and contradiction drive her art. \nLike any true cabinet of curiosities\, her collection delights in misdirection; as she points out\, it’s “filled with blatant fakes. They’re not even fabricated in the right material.” This presentation explores the impulse to collect\, the pleasure of artifice\, and the imaginative possibilities of glass when it refuses to behave as expected.

SUMMARY:Josh Kitchen - Asheville Glass Supply
DESCRIPTION:After Hurricane Helene devastated Asheville\, NC\, it wiped out nearly all the local glass supply companies and studios. We saw our community suddenly left without access to the tools\, materials and support that working artists need to survive. \nSo we decided to step up – not just as another supplier\, but as a true hub.\nWe are building a community-driven supply center\, resource network and gathering point for glass artists\, makers and collectors. Our mission is simple: restore what was lost – and build something even better. \nA place where artists aren’t just supplied – they are supported\, seen and connected. \nwww.ashevilleglasssupply.com
