Ongoing Challenge #27
“Goldstone”
By Janie Jones
The theme for July is “Light Up The Night Sky”! At our monthly meeting, Terry Henry will share her demo using 3 sparkly things to make her glass “light up” – silver foil, CZ’s and shimmery dichroic glass.
But one thing she doesn’t use is goldstone. So, that’s what our July Challenge #27 will be … make something using sparkly goldstone. Any form of glass you choose is great. Then, show us what you made by melting some goldstone into the mix. Share your images on our Members FB page in comments, here’s a link to make it easier for you.
But I’m curious, do you encase an actual stone and pull it? Or do you use a purchased rod of goldstone filigrana and use that? Or maybe you prefer using frit? What do you use most often?
Please give this month’s challenge a try and share your efforts. Psst – if you don’t have any goldstone, share any glass piece you’ve made with anything sparkly in it or on it. And please remember to also post your answer to the goldstone question too.
As always, thank you for participating!
