Challenge #20
Let’s Twist Again
By Janie Jones
This month’s challenge is for all skill levels.
Make a ‘twist’ on hot glass, using glass as your tool. No doubt it’s a design technique many members have used frequently. Share your images with us please, on our Members FaceBook page. Please put your images in comments beneath this Challenge #20.
Use a stringer as your tool and touch the designed, hot glass surface of your bead and give it a twist. (Don‘t heat the stringer and keep it perpendicular to the surface). Twist the stringer slightly or twist it a lot, your choice. Firmly blow a quick puff of air on the point where the twist was made and pop the stringer off.
I tend to use a clear stringer most of the time, sometimes a contrasting color to show up on the surface – what color do you use? And I’m curious to see the examples posted … twisted to the left or the right – clockwise, counterclockwise or both? Does being left or right handed determine the direction of the twist?
Don’t forget about the possibility of winning a prize for participating (is that just bribery, or what?). This might be the month your name could be drawn, you never know when that might happen!
Thanks for participating in this Challenge and let me also thank those members who are recently adding images to older Challenges, I do appreciate that!
