Challenge #36
Butterfly Wings
by Janie Jones
The theme for the month of April is “Flutterbys”. A colorful butterfly on the surface of a bead, or even a butterfly wing as a bead would certainly qualify for this month’s challenge. Make a butterfly themed glass piece please. All skill levels welcome, all types of glass encouraged.
The image below, on the left is a butterfly bead made years ago, finished off as a pendant. The image in the center is my attempt to make the wing of a Monarch butterfly. I wasn’t very good at making it, but it was my first attempt in years! Absolute *PROOF* that all skill levels are encouraged to try these Challenges – so load up some images of your own, I know you’ve got them!
Do you make butterfly murrini? Show us! The image on the right shows a beautiful example. If you make beads or fused pieces using purchased butterfly murrini, share those pieces with us too.
Post your efforts here, in comments below, and thank you to everyone who contributes what the have made.
Members can share your images on our members FB page beneath this Challenge. Thanks for contributing.
