The Glass Dragons

We are a community of artisans and glass enthusiasts who share a passion for Lampworking; where a torch is used to melt glass into beads, figurines, marbles, small vessels, ornaments, and much more.

Who Can Join:

Anyone with the faintest curiosity for glass, or even any fire-breathing lampworker with a deep seated desire to improve their glass melting skills and make new glassy-friends are welcome to join us.

What We’re About

Who Are The Glass Dragons:

Glass Dragons members come from all around the globe with skill levels ranging from the downright Glass Rock Stars to the newest of beginners who have yet to purchase a torch. We are a fun and friendly group that loves to share our enthusiasm for glass.

We are a social group that interact A LOT. We share ideas. We watch presentations together and discuss what we have seen. Everyone in this group just loves glass. Students come here to learn, share and experiment. Professionals come here to unwind and be students again. It doesn’t matter if you’ve been working with glass for 20 years or 20 hours. Everyone checks their egos at the door. Everyone is welcome.

What We Do:

Provide programs that help develop lampworking skills
Post live and online social events to inspire creative relationships among members
Strive to be an invaluable resource of creative inspiration
Provide an ongoing list of resources for lampworking artists

Why We Do It:

What? Are you kidding me? Fire. Glass. What could possibly be more fun? The simple answer is this: we do this because we love it. We love the glass. We love the friends we are making. We love the interaction with one another. We love that what makes our club different is that you are expected to interact with it. If you are looking for a club where you just gather a newsletter and make a couple of things and post a few pics — sure we can be that — but WE can also be so much more than that. Many members, not all — we allow introverted dragons in here too — love the interaction, they come to the chats and they happily share their ideas and photos. And that sharing and caring is what makes our community fun. That interacting makes us stand out. We are a community. The more you participate, no matter your level, the better we all get.

What We Offer

If you are slightly curious or full-blown obsessed with melting glass, you have come to the right place. The Glass Dragons have been around for a number of years and just recently exploded into a GLOBALLY REACHING lampworking network. Check out some of the ongoing programs we have to offer:

Beads of Courage

Get involved with a worthy charitable cause – “Dedicated to helping children with serious illness record, tell and own their stories of survival.” The Glass Dragons is dedicated to supporting this charity, we hope you will too.



Challenges

Join in on the fun – creative challenges are constantly going on with The Glass Dragons from multiple sources. There is no competition, only creative thinking.



Monthly Meetings

Glass Dragon meetings are held the second Saturday of every month. When possible it is important to attend these meetings. Membership voting and future plans are determined at these meetings … and there’s usually a demo at the end.
