August 2018 Meeting – Let’s Get Knotty!

Since it’s so hot, we have an indoor activity planned. We are teaching everyone how to make a knotty bracelet with lampwork beads and leather cord. These are great for yourselves but make nice gifts too!

If you would like to bring your own beads, you will need 7 made on a 3/32 mandrel or any bead with a large hole will work too. No worries if you don’t, we will have everything you will need to make a bracelet. Cord, clasps, beads and even the boards will be available for a small fee.

Next month we will probably meet in Pompano, where Kara Ann and Chris Scala work, to learn how to use a plasma cutter and weld. There will be a demo. This meeting has not been finalized…but it will give you time to plan. If you would like to come south for this but it is too far you are more than welcome to stay overnight at Crystal’s place!

October will be in Royal Palm Beach at Crystal’s place where we will be making acorns, pumpkins and Fall things on wire for headpins etc etc. Wire will be provided and all the torches will be on so everyone can try working on wire. Again….the offer to stay overnight at Crystal’s is always an option!

I would like to host Carolyn Baum here at the studio in Royal Palm. Anyone interested in taking a class with her please reply back to Crystal (president@floridaglassdragons.com). It will be very reasonable and there is plenty of room to stay overnight here. It will be a one day class and in the Fall.
