An Afternoon with Terry Henry
Simple Striped Murrini
November 23, 2020
Terry Henry was kind enough to fill in at the last minute — showing us her simple striped murrini that she made for our current swap – Murrini Madness. She used the Reichenbach glass, Iris Orange, 108 – known as “Raku” to most of us – because she likes how the glass can bloom with color changes.
Terry showed us how she used a tool to make indented lines on the base color gather, which helped her align stripes of intense black. After creating the cane and slicing off a piece of the murrini, she showed us how to apply it to a bead. Then she explained how to get the color to bloom in the murrini. Terry also told us about the Intense Black and how you could affect the stripes by really heating it.
