An Afternoon with Jelveh Jaferian
Key Mandrel and Rubino reactions
November 9, 2020
Jelveh graced us once again with her artful demonstrations and entertaining stories …. “Banana,” as well as her process of developing and improving her Key Mandrel. She showed how using different base colors under reactive glass changes the look of the final bead. For the first bead she used Periwinkle as the base, and for the other she used pink, for two different looks. She demonstrated some glass magic with a reaction between Rubino and Copper Green.
Jelveh reminded us of that special place in the flame to work Rubino to let it’s beautiful color shine. She also suggested numerous tips and tricks to consider when making beads on antique keys. She explained what types of keys could and could not be used and the best places to find them. Thanks Jelveh for stepping in for the Glass Dragons once again.
