newbies and the forgetful:

From Paula DeRienzo: “In a world where glass prices are crazy high, please remember that making pretty beads with glass that is not that expensive is really easy to do. Some of the prettiest colors out there are less than $15.00 a pound.”

Also from Paula: “Beads that are stuck on the mandrel may be removed by soaking them in vinegar.”

From Janie Jones: “When finished with one rod of glass, I give the tip of the still hot end a quick roll on the marver to smooth it out before putting it back on the table. That makes it much easier to heat later on without a big glob being at the end.”
