Silver Reduction on Clear Glass

Terry has been experimenting with silver leaf as a part of her recent series on glass properties, and she needed to find a suitable non reactive base glass. She decided to use a clear base glass rather than her previous white to evaluate reactions between black glasses and silver. She was surprised when only some of the glass beads were successfully reduced. Many of the glass beads were cloudy and scummy looking and worst of all, some of the beads turned dark ugly colors and looked burnt.

Terry put her scientific background to work and figured out what needed to be done to get a perfect finish. She will be sharing that and more with us in this Speaker Presentation!
