June 2019 Meeting – Drop It Like It’s Hot…

It’s time for the Florida Glass Dragons Monthly meeting! Mark your calendar for June 8th, 2019. The temperatures are climbing, so this month, the lovely Margie Chan has volunteered to host the meeting where we will be making focal drop necklaces. Margie and Chris are providing all of the materials: lampwork focal, 2 matching beads, leather cord, seed beads, and cording for $7. We are so lucky to have these talented ladies in our group:)

Date: June 8th, 2019

Place: Margie Chan’s Home

Belle Isle, Fl 32812

Time: 11:00 a.m. to 3 p.m

Please bring a snack to share with the group.  We can’t wait to see you there.  If you  have glass melting related stuff you want to sell…feel free to bring it with you as well:) For more information, contact sunnyone64@hotmail.com.

Upcoming meetings:

It is summer and so we do not have air conditioned torch space, so we may be back in Deland in July. We are looking for volunteers to host meetings. If you have a space or ideas please let us know:) The chapter has to pay for the Deland studio and we don’t have a lot of funds, so volunteers are desperately needed.  We do not have any space planned for future meetings and we would like to schedule a few months out so that we can all plan for it.

July, August, September we need to be in a non torch environment.  We can do an artsy project or field trip…maybe mosaics.. Please think of ideas and share them. If you want to volunteer a space any location in the state is fine…South , West, North, East. We travel!  October should be cool enough for Royal Palm, again.

Volunteer Help Wanted

  • Candis Donkin can no longer fill the role of treasurer. Crystal never asks for help but she needs it with this one. She wears so many hats but this is one she just can’t put on. She will assist with the role, if needed and will take care of banking if needed. She just needs some help with filing the taxes and filing the annual report. Taxes have been filed for 2018.
  • We are actively seeking a welding instructor for a future meeting. Please let us know if you know of one! We would like to do a garden art welding project as a group:) Simple copper etc pipe and a welders torch( or plumbers torch):) Nothing fancy:)
