An Evening with Bronwen Heilman
Colorful Window Decoration
Friday, December 4, 2020
Bronwen will be demonstrating how to make a colorful window ornament. She prefers calling them window ornaments because she enjoys seeing them all year long. She will use borosilicate glass rods, tubing and frit to create a hummingbird visiting a flower for its sweet nectar.
The demo will take about 1 ¼ hours, so have your beverage and snack ready – then you can sit back and enjoy Bronwen’s demo!
After the Demo Update!
(If you missed it, remember that members can watch the recorded demo on the Facebook Members’ Page, check it out! And if you aren’t a member but would like to be, visit the Membership page)
Bronwen Heilman began with a history of her glass journey, showing us examples of the many interesting paths she has traveled and how it led to the work she does today. (Did you know she helped build houses for Habitat for Humanity?)
Then she worked magic for us! She shared 3 demos in one! First, she worked with tubing to make a flower, then she called on her skills to create a hummingbird to go with the flower. Not finished inspiring us yet, she combined the flower and the hummingbird to make a window ornament. She utilized hoses, cool tools, sculptural techniques, bridged some boro, and really wowed us!
Thank you Bronwen, for sharing your time and expertise with us!
