An Afternoon with Lisa Daigle

Holiday Icicles

Monday, December 14, 2020

Continuing our wonderful winter theme, Lisa Daigle will be demonstrating how she uses simple lines and techniques to make her beautiful  glass icicles.  She will share the importance of heat control on both a large torch and a minor torch, and  how you can make small items for your Holiday Home.

We look forward to watching and learning something new, and then later trying our hand at these festive Holiday Icicles. They certainly look much more fun than typical ones found clinging to the rain gutters!

Snuggle up with something warm while you watch Lisa show us how to make some winter beauty in glass form!

After the Demo Update!

(If you missed it, remember that members can watch the recorded demo on the Facebook Members’ Page, check it out!  And if you aren’t a member but would like to be, visit the Membership page)

Lisa Daigle has been working with boro for many years, and in addition to selling her work, has been a teaching assistant at Corning Glass an instructor at Beadcamp and more . Once again Lisa shared her exceptional skills with the Dragons. In this demo, she used some of her skills in her demonstration to make several borosilicate holiday icicle variations and some snowmen. First she made them on her “big” torch (a Carlisle CC,) as expected, but then used her Nortel Minor to show us that almost all of the smaller torches could work as well, and seeing was believing.

Lisa made it look easy when she did some open hooks at the tops of her lovely ornaments as hangers, but also wowed us with a quick pull, twist and flip to create a closed loop. It was like watching a magic trick, and I foresee some experiments coming up among those in the audience next time they are at the torch – and some re-watching the Zoom recording to try to get that motion down pat too!

Visit Lisa’s website to see more of her work and get information on classes when they are available.

If you would like to show some appreciation for her generosity in sharing her skills with us, you can send Lisa something for her tip jar.
