An Evening with  Alexx Cheng

Happy New Year!

Friday, January 1, 2021

We are so happy to have Alexx Cheng with us once again to start the new year!  He is planning to create a perfume bottle, as well as making a dichroic cabochon for a ring top. He also plans to  use scrap dichroic pieces for a multi-color  bead.

Alexx will also be sharing his new invention with us, a “bead removal press” that can be made at home.  He has been thinking about this for years, and and luckily for us Alexx was able to make it in time to share it with us as a part of his presentation.

We have a lot to look forward to with this demonstration – see you in 2021 for an evening with Alexx!

After the Demo Update!

(If you missed it, remember that members can watch the recorded demo on the Facebook Members’ Page, check it out!  And if you aren’t a member but would like to be, visit the Membership page)

The Dragons started off the New Year by visiting with Alexx Cheng in his studio in Thailand. He made a bead with scrap dichroic glass to begin his demo, and then made a dichro cab that could be used as a ring topper or pendant. Alexx demonstrated for us how he makes a perfume bottle. Once he made the bottle, he decorated it with a raked stringer, gold fuming and some Double Helix reducing glass as decoration to add a bit of shine.

After the bead demo, Alexx gave us a tour of his studio and some of his innovative tools and tricks. It was a great way to ring in the year, thank you Alexx!

Instead of having a “tip jar,” Alexx would prefer that anyone who wants to thank him do so by helping either someone in need or a local animal shelter – in whatever fashion they are able. Even the smallest of gestures can have large ripples!
