An Evening with
Marcie Davis
Lauscha Glass Presentation
Thursday, January 19, 2023
Marcie Davis fell in love with glass at the ripe old age of 6 when she saw her first flameworker in Venice, Italy. Two decades later she became the final student of Cortes Lorow, a 5th generation flameworker in Miami, Florida.
When he passed away in the early ’80’s she was left stranded without equipment or instruction.
When he passed away in the early ’80’s she was left stranded without equipment or instruction. She trudged on, turning to the Corning Museum of Glass
for support. And in her strenuous search for technical guidance she made a promise to the universe: If she could get the information that she needed, she swore that nobody would have to struggle like that, ever again! 30 DVD’s and 85 webinars later, she remains true to her word. Glass education is her life! Along the way she wrote for Glass Art Magazine, The Flow, Glas Haus and Glass Line, produced an award winning television series on glass, founded Glassworks Video Productions & Firelady Productions, served as sales manager for Bethlehem Burners and did marketing for Northstar Glassworks. She also spent 15 years doing flameworking demos in schools and libraries around South Florida, and blew about 100,000 squirt gun swans for kids.
In 2002, she made her first visit to Lauscha, Germany, and her life has never been the same. She’s spent 20 years promoting the artists and culture of Lauscha through video, print and podcasts.
She’s the North American Sales Rep for Farbglashütte, Lauscha (The Lauscha Factory) and imports Lauscha Christmas ornaments. She resides in Miami with her life partner, Rolf, their honeybees, rabbits, chickens, and a rambunctious puppy named Honey
