An Evening with – Terry Hale – Stretched Beads

My “Stretched Bead” demo shows how to create a lovely, marble-like bead while using a number of good exercises for torchworkers. I include how to use scrap bits, choose great color combos, and make a large round bead with good ends. Then the fun begins! We’ll change the shape of the bead, as well as the surface decoration by using heat and gravity, then a final bit of marvering to refine the shape. I share this bead in my beginner classes to demonstrate how glass moves and how to work with that movement. With my more advanced students, I offer reminders of small techniques that may have been forgotten. The best part is that every bead made this way turns out beautifully!
