Ann Spirek-Wierbinski – Butterfly Murrini Class

Ann Spirek-Wierbinski has been a lampwork artist since 2012, but has been making murrini since she was 18 years old. She began her murrini making journey in the late 1980s using polymer clay – back when you had to order it from Germany. She made murrini for dollhouses, all kinds of murrini – foods, animals, holiday cookies, pretty much anything she could imagine creating.

In 2012 when she found glass, she just Knew she had to figure out how to make murrini with her new medium. Within two years of being on the torch (and taking a one day class), she pretty much taught herself how to make murrini with glass. She says “it is WAY harder in glass!!” Nowadays, Ann still makes murrini as often as she can, and has an Etsy shop with all the various murrini she makes.

Butterfly Murrini:
In this class, Ann will show us how to create a complex “picture murrini” featuring a butterfly. We’ll watch her build the butterfly murrini from start to finish, while she shares plenty of practical tips, tricks, and insights you can use in your own work.
