June 9, 2018 Meeting – Learn To Melt Glass At The St. Lucie County Rock and Gem Club

torch flame

It’s once again time for the monthly meeting of The Florida Glass Dragons. We have another exciting meeting planned that you won’t want to miss!

Florida Glass Dragons & St. Lucie County Rock and Gem Club are co hosting a meeting!

We will be demoing glass bead making and making metal bead caps! For the tiny sum of $5. You can sit down and make a bunch of bead caps to go on your beads! Bring inorganic material to roll in the metal presses to make designs on the metal. A leaf will work if it is dead ( dry) so think outside of the box:)…lace, material, dead leaves and other flora. It does have to be small enough to roll through the press….use your imagination:)

Don’t miss this opportunity as all meetings will not have the ability to torch present!

Do you know someone who has expressed an interest in lampworking, but not been able to try? Or, perhaps, is just getting started but hasn’t had much exposure to other artists? Or…well established and just want to meet and hang out with other glassy folks for the day? Well, bring them along! Hosted by Joe David at SLC Rock and Gem club, this event is open to everyone, members and non-members! The studio features several torches, so everyone will have an opportunity to try their hand, if they so choose. We’ll have some demos, as well as a question and answer session. So help us spread the word! We can’t wait to see you there!

Location: St. Lucie County Rock & Gem Club

6901 Heritage Dr

Port St. Lucie, FL 34952

The mission of the Florida Glass Dragons is to promote the diverse art of glass beadmaking and other glass working techniques; to be socially responsible through support of worthy causes; to provide a nurturing environment to all members; and foremost, to have a good time together through our common passion for glass.

As always, you are encouraged to bring your artwork for show and tell and don’t forget your donations for Beads of Courage!

The Dragons will be bringing in teachers this year for members and non member classes. If you join the group you get reduced tuition:)
